Robyn was born in
Cairns and her English teachers encouraged her interest in
creative writing. Dance was her first passion, so writing took a
back seat whilst she pursued the demanding career of a
professional dancer.
After 2 years full time study in Melbourne, Robyn was accepted
into the Queensland Ballet Company where she met and married
Andrew. When injury curtailed their careers they formed their own
photography business and Robyn retained her ties with the theatre
working backstage in the Wardrobe Department of the Queensland
Performing Arts Centre.
After much encouragement from friends, Robyn joined several
writing groups in 2001 and achieved her aim to be published within
2 years with a poem in the Arrow Encouragement Awards 2002
Anthology.
Since then, she has had several contributions published in the
FAWQ (Fellowship of Australian Writers Queensland) magazine Scope
and short stories in the Carindale Writers’ Group anthologies
Collections 2003 and Leap In Time, which was launched at the 2004
Brisbane Writers Festival.
Robyn hopes to emulate her late mother Heather Harvey who took
up writing in her 40’s had a children’s book “Cold Comfort”
published in 1987.
Next achievement is to complete and publish that novel.
Robyn's contributions to the Carindale Writers' Group workshops
include:
Steep Road
Encounter
Win
Kaleidoscope
