Claire Austin

Claire is of English heritage but grew up in Dalby on the Western Downs of Queensland. She wrote many short stories, poems and play scripts in her youth, some of which were published in magazines and newspapers back in the day. Her English teacher at high school encouraged her to pursue her writing career but life got in the way. She is delighted to finally have the time now to indulge her passion once more.

Claire’s working careers have been many and diverse. She has at various times been a drama teacher, a teacher-librarian, university lecturer and tutor, a scriptwriter, actor and a developer of drama programs for the Australian school curriculum. Her play called Who was here first successfully toured Queensland in 2011 and 2012 with Arts Link (Qld Arts Council). She is a freelance consultant conducting in-service drama workshops for schools and Arts organisations on request.

She has one published novel under a pseudonym and is currently writing a psychological speculative fiction novel.
