Dave Shellshear
Dave Shellshear has been with the Carindale Writers’ Group for a few years and appreciates the critiques of his stories from other members. These comments are very welcome, constructive and life changing in terms of personal writing style.
English was always Dave’s favourite subject through his schooling and he went on to study Journalism at the Canberra College of Advanced Education, studying creative story development, poetry, play scripting and Journalism Theory and Practice. He wrote tourism articles for a Canberra newspaper for two years. Incidentally he was also employed as a Commonwealth Public Servant for about 18 years! He and his wife Lyn made the brave move to the Sunshine State in 1989 and he again worked initially on a Quest suburban newspaper for a while and wrote food reviews for 12 months for a city-based newspaper. That offered the opportunity to dabble in a range of gastronomic delights. Now, having shed the tyrannies of a 9 to 5 existence, Dave has discovered there is real life beyond work and great opportunities to write and let the creative juices flow. Dave reads widely in different genres as brain fodder for his planned writing adventures. Apart from writing, Dave has more than a passing interest in helping to raise his twin granddaughters, enjoys classic cars, music, movies and experimenting with cooking. |
